Get Your Offline HP Printer Back Online

Why Does My Printer Say Offline?

Communication problems may appear due to low router bandwidth, connecting printer and computer to different network devices or there could be a possibility of a printer in sleep mode or turned off.

Steps to Get Back HP Printer Online 

 

Step 1. Make your HP Printer a default device 

1.      Search for the Printers and Scanners on your computer.

2.      Locate your HP Printer on the list and click over it.

3.      Now select the Manage option, and click Set as default.

Step 2. Deactivate Use Printer Offline option 

1.      Open the Control Panel section on your computer.

2.      Go to Printers and Scanners, click your HP Printer.

3.      Select Open Queue.

4.      Once the Printer Properties window opens, click the Printer tab.

5.      Now make sure the Use Printer Offline option is unchecked.

6.      Also, you need to select Clear all documents in the drop-down list.

Step 3. Restart the Print Spooler services  

Print Spooler is a service that holds the print jobs and sequentially sends them to final print. Here are the steps to restart the services.

1.      First of all, click the Search box on your computer.

2.      Type Services and hit.

3.      The Services window enter opens, locate the Print Spooler.

4.      Right-click over Print Spooler and then click Restart on the drop-down list.

5.      Wait for some time, your HP printer should get back online now. If it doesn’t then you may remove and add your printer again.

Step 4. Remove and Add your HP printer 

1.      Search for the Printer and Scanner on your computer.

2.      Choose the HP printer.

3.      Right-click over it and select Remove.

4.      Click Yes over the confirmation screen.

5.      Further, click Add a Printer or Scanner.

6.      Now select your HP Printer from the list.

7.      Keep following the on-screen instructions to finish adding your printer to the computer.

8.      Once done, you may restart your printer and computer to fix the offline problem.         

Step 5. Verify and readjust the printer ports

1.      Again visit the Printer and Scanner section.

2.      Choose your HP printer and click Manage.

3.      Now hit the Printer Properties button and click Port on the next screen.

4.      A new window opens, scroll the page and locate the WSD port.

5.      Now look for service on your computer.

6.      Once the Services window opens, navigate to Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication.

7.      Make sure that the Status is set to Running and the Startup type is set at Automatic.

8.      Otherwise, right-click over them and click Properties.

9.      Switch Status to Start and Startup Type to Automatic.

10.  Click Ok over the confirmation screen, preset the F5 button on the keyboard, and verify if your printer gets back online or not.

Still, your printer is offline? Now you must print the Network configuration report to see the instructions to fix it. To print, the report click the wireless button on your printer, click Setup and then click Network configuration report.

1.      Go to the Control Panel.

2.      Click the HP printer icon and click Manage.

3.      Choose the Printer properties option.

4.      Click Port and then click Add Port.

5.      Now you need to click choose Standard TCP/IP port and then hit over New port option.

6.      You can get the hostname from the Network Configuration report and follow the Subsequent steps to add a new port. Click F5 on the keyboard to verify the printer status.         

Still, my printer is offline! How to fix it?
